I am a writer, reviewer, editor, former publisher, and art historian
Former publisher (Andre Deutsch, Collins, John Murray), then after taking an MA at the Courtauld Institute, art publisher (Philip Wilson/Zwemmer, V&A Publications), now freelance writer, editor, and festival curator.
I have written on the arts over the years for the Spectator, Financial Times, RA Magazine, and am just about to embark (with Paul Hills) on a monograph on the art of the painter/poet David Jones for Lunch Humphries, to be published in 2015.
I am Deputy Chair of the trustees of the Koestler Trust for arts by offenders, a judge of the Duff Cooper prize for non-fiction, and Literary Advisor to the Buxton Festival, where I help to run the Literary Series. I am also on the board of the Leche Charitable Trust and Biographers' Club.
