freelance art critic and lecturer
I am a freelance art critic and lecturer. I contribute regularly to Art Monthly (since 2004) and ArtReview (since 2006) magazines, and have also written for MAP, Mute, Modern Painters, Flash Art, Blueprint and The Internationale. Recent catalogue essays include texts on Nogah Engler, Hew Locke and Miriam Bäckström.
I am a consultant lecturer on the MA in Contemporary Art course at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London, and am running the public programme (higher education and adults) for the next Folkestone Triennial in 2014.
I was Director of Talks at the ICA, London, from 2003 to 2009, and Managing Editor of 'contemporary' magazine from 2001 to 2003. I co-curated Talk Show at the ICA (2009) and Video London, a survey show of 200 emerging British artists as part of Barcelona’s Loop festival (2005); and curated a group show by MFA artists from Goldsmiths at White Box, New York (2006).
