AICA-UK is delighted to announce that, beginning in March 2025, it is partnering with the Whitechapel Gallery, London, on a series of roundtable discussions that will respond to the 2024 survey ‘Labour Conditions in the Arts’ organised by AICA, our international parent body.
The survey provides a thorough examination of the work carried out by AICA members across the world, addressing topics such as demographics, professional roles and the challenges faced by writers and critics in the field today, including key issues like precarious employment and inadequate pay.
The insights provided by the survey will inform AICA’s efforts to foster a more sustainable and equitable future for art criticism and better enable it to advocate for the recognition, support and fair treatment of art critics, writers, curators and scholars, to defend their rights and to promote improvements in labour conditions.
