David Bate is the author of dozens of essays and criticism of art, contemporary photography and its histories. His books Art Photography (Tate Publications, 2016) Photography and Surrealism (London: IB Tauris 2004), Photography: Key Concepts are standard reading among many students and scholars of photography. Also a practicing artist, he is Professor of Photography at the University of Westminster in London, UK.
