Michael Kurtz is a critic and curator based in London. He writes regularly for Art Monthly and e-flux, and in 2023 he won the International Award for Art Criticism. He has written articles on photography for Res: Anthropology and Aesthetics and Ukrainian Photographies Journal. As a curator and cataloguer, he has held positions at the Pitt Rivers Museum, Waddesdon Manor, and Four Corners Gallery. He is currently Listings Editor of Art Monthly and a Creative Mediator of Manifesta16, which opens in Germany’s Ruhr Area in June 2026.
